Teach your child how to read.  I provide essential reading assessments that pinpoint strengths and weaknesses that YOU can give to your child.

My goal is to empower you with the tools, strategies, and resources you need in order to teach reading and instill a love of learning.  My method provides students  (1) with motivational strategies that encourage (2) reading every day, (3) working independently, (4) developing a positive mindset, and (5) achieving academic excellence.

My method provides parents and teachers with (1) reading and writing assessments along with (2) instructional resources you can use at home with your child to create (3) a strong reading foundation (4) coupled with motivational techniques resulting in (5) a love of reading and (6) high academic achievement.

There is a direct correlation between students who take the initiative to read independently and high academic achievement. Motivational strategies that encourage children to read are very powerful and are often the essential link in achieving success.  Motivation is key.

In order for individuals to reach their full potential, it’s important to examine the powerful influence of the body-mind connection. The body-mind connection is often an overlooked link that directly impacts academic success. This is true for all students, and especially for young children who are just starting school.

Students benefit, emotionally and academically, when their body and mind are both in sync.

There are traditional and unconventional methods to achieve success. We will be highlighting  “practical tools” and other resources that many people may not be as familiar with, that are often underutilized, yet have a proven track record of success when used consistently.

Lastly, I am answering specific questions parents have through the “Dear Reading Teacher” column.  The topics I am featuring are based on frequently asked questions (FAQs)  I receive from parents.  All parents want what is best for their children, and many of the same questions are asked in different ways every year by parents who are sending their children off to school for the first time. If you have any additional questions regarding how to help your child succeed please let me know.  I hope to motivate and inspire by sharing what I have discovered and continue to learn as I explore global learning, cultural educational viewpoints from around the world, and instructional resources, techniques, and strategies that promote academic excellence.

The body influences the mind and vice versa.  Oftentimes, seeds are planted in our subconscious when we are very young that we are not even aware of and as those seeds take root and grow we experience either positive or negative consequences based on specific beliefs. These beliefs effect all facets of our lives including our attitude toward school and how we learn to read. These “patterns of thought” can be shaped in a number of ways to maximize a child’s potential in all areas.

People are creatures of habit, and whether we realize it or not, we take comfort in consistency, structure, and predictability in our daily routine.

Once a pattern has been “set” it can be difficult to change  without a body-mind connection. This is a major reason why it is so important when children start school to create positive patterns that will encourage success.

We all know WHAT to do and HOW to do it, however, our mind is a powerful tool, and it is equally important to “exercise”  our mind, not just our body.
